Greetings,
My dealer locator had been up and running just fine. Friday it quit working and began showing the following message:
Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111) in /var/www/html/locator/admin/config.php on line 7
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)
I suspect what might have happened. Is there be an easy fix, or is a reinstall necessary?
( URL is
http://www.the-timer.com/locator/index.php )
Any help would be appreciated.
Joe

The error indicates that your locator can no longer connect to your mysql database.
If you have had any recent changes to the way you must access your mysql database, they you need to make adjustments to your locator by viewing the Program Settings tool and updating the Hostname, DB Name, Username and Password that your locator uses to connect to your MySQL.
Do you know if your php or mysql have gone through any recent changes?

My hosting company implied there were no changes to any settings. I was using "localhost" for the database host setting and double checked all other settings, but nothing worked. I then started over, deleted my database, reinstalled a fresh one, removed locator folder, uploaded all files again, got things configured, couldn't connect, then they tell me to use "localhost.localdomain" for my database host setting. It worked, so I imported the records again, checked settings, etc...the admin panel works great, everything seems to be in order, but all that shows is a blank screen when trying to locate a dealer. If you were using localhost and are now using localhost.localdomain, then there was a change.
Please submit a trouble ticket for this issue and don't forget to give is admin control panel username/password. Thanks!
